Kolkata Trams: Can This Heritage Mode of transport Become a Mass Transport (Metro Feeder) Once Again?

From this Month BBD Bagh Tram terminus will be closed temporarily for the construction of Mahakaran station of east west metro , a large number of oldest tram routs in this country will be closed temporarily ….if not forever…. A time when modern Age will replace the old, it will be a big leap indeed towards passenger comfort, mobilization of passengers and  de congestion of the city but this event signifies a lot. It depicts our old inefficient tram system which symbolized Kolkata in Indian and international media is collapsing, And it is a matter of few years when we can even completely lose it. So why did this happen , the tram with this vast network could become a great modern feeder service for Kolkata metro… well the answer is tram died out because it didn’t change with changing times…. Here in this series we will discuss the main problems and  there possible remedies how tram can become a good world class feeder service and survive to continue to be a symbol of Kolkata……….

In this series we will Discuss the Problems of Kolkata Trams, its possible remedies, we will propose some new routes with complete DPRs, we will also discuss how the tram network can become a mass transport once again and serve as a feeder of kolkata metro.......
