Kolkata Trams: Post 2 ...... Proposing a new Tram Route From Ultodanga to College More....... Detailed Project Report...

This route has very High Ridership as the Areas around college more Are hugely crowded by different MNC and colleges and even a research institute (Bose institute) , being a business area huge amount of people come and go through this place throughout the day because many of the multinational companies that are situated here operate 24/7. A large amount of these people come through two routs 1) through bypass and Nicco park and 2) From Ultodanga. Now the riders from bypass have many bus routes and soon Line 6 of Kolkata metro Will be available also for these people, but the huge amount of people who come through Ultodanga are completely dependent upon Auto rickshaws which has made life very difficult by passenger refusal or by taking absurd amount of fares, and the buses which serve this rout are negligible with respect to the amount of buses serving the bypass route and all of them are overcrowded. And the breadth of the roads in this route are so that a metro rout can never be built. And number of Bus routes cannot be increased because of inadequate road space. So what is the solution we here at metro rail blog hereby propose an tramline Connecting Ultodanga and College more , the busy business district of Saltlate Sec V.

Features: You must be thinking that in a route where Road space is a major problem building a tram route through that route will only add up to the problems, well we know but that happens when the Tram tracks are layed on the roads. In late 1950s USA Got obsessed with streatcars and started building them they also faced the same problem but insead them laying the tracks on road they built elevated tracks in some places.
Here we propose just that. Now because the trams are very light, pillars for the elevated tracks require very small space. In this case the pillars can be built on the median of the roads, and trams being only two coach stations will also require very less space. And the islands of the roads is enough for building them (the elevated section will be very similar to LRT)

Route: The Route Will Connect Extremely Busy Station and transit point of Kolkata Ultodanga to the Busy Business District of Saltlake Sec V, Connecting residential, Educational and public places of Saltlake city on its way.

Stations: This route will have Stations At
1.Bidhannagar Road.
2.HUDCO.
3.PNB.
4.CA Island.
5.City Center/Bidhannagar Govt College. (Interchange With Kolkata Metro Line 2)
6.Labony estate.
7.GD Island/ Carnival Cinemas
8.Susrut Eye Hospital
9.Sec V. (Interchange With Kolkata Metro Line 2/6).
10.RS Island.
11.Bypass bound Bus Stop RS Island (there is One was traffic Due to narrow Roads)

On ground stations will be Very much similar to AC bus shelters in Kolkata but a little Longer to accommodate two carriages.

The elevated Trams stations will be like elevated Stations Of LRT.

Depot: No New Depot Will be required as the line will have a link  with the Ultodanga, which will give the line access to Ultodanga Depot.

There is are problems of encroachments on this route because the viaduct pillars will be built on the median of the road and the stations partly over the road on the islands.
