[Photos] [Video] Mominpur Station approved , Joka Metro Gets pushed

The Mominpur Jinx finally has been broken . The MoD , or Ministry of Defence finally approves the construction of the elevated Mominpur Metro Station of the upcoming 15 km Joka-Esplanade Metro Line .

The station will be constructed on its originally proposed plot . Before , MoD refused to approve the construction and asked metro to skip the station and directly go to Khidirpur because the defence campus will be visible from the station and the elevated viaduct . But later on , the army agreed .

Metro said , Mominpur will be the busiest station on the line , which alone will feed about 20 thousand passengers daily !

Also , skipping the station will force metro to construct a ramp for the trains to go Underground before Mominpur Crossing with a very steep inclination . Trains may not climb up with such a steep slope .

Finally MoD agreed , and officially gave a green signal to commence work . I personally believe , that the viaducts and the station will be covered up in such a way that passengers won't be able to view the Defence Campus from the trains and platforms .

The way the construction of this line is progressing , people of Kolkata will only get a joyride by 2018 end or mid 2019 . Only 50 % of Depot land has been acquired so far . Without the depot , not even a single train can be commercially driven on the tracks . Still Hope for the best .
