So , finally finishing work starts in East West Metro Corridor's stations ! Here are some images and informations :-
Here are some photos I somehow managed to be clicked inspite of high security
(where security = the workers 😂 )
Somewhere I found a news that Phase 1 will initially be commercially operated upto Phoolbagan . The news is absolutely wrong , as KMRCL won't be operating the line without Sealdah . Sealdah will be busiest station of Phase 1 . Without it , the corridor is of no use . Secondly , the rakes will be interchanging tracks at Sealdah (I don't think it will matter or not ).
Lets take example of the elevated stretch . The 5 km elevated stretch was complete except Duttabad stretch . So , KMRCL would have operated Sector 5 - City Centre 1 stretch . But they didn't do it because it was of no use . Now If you say that a line can't be operated with just 4 stations , I would rather give example of Gurgaon Metro and Kolkata Metro Line 4 which has 6 stations and 4 stations respectively . Now if you say that both Line 4 and Gurgaon metro needs to have an interchange with another metro (Line 4 with Line 6 and 1 , and Gurgaon Metro with Delhi Metro Yellow Line ) , then I will again give example of Dum Dum - Belgachhia Stretch . When metro started operation in 1984 , the Dum Dum - Belgachhia stretch was Commercially operated with just 2 stations (huge loss for metro / joyride ) . Similarly , KMRCL would have operated Sector 5 - City Centre stretch . But they didn't do it because they wanted to run upto Sealdah .
Now you tell , how can Phase 1 be commercially operated without Sealdah ? Not Possible , right ? Exactly ! If Sealdah remains incomplete , they would rather push the deadline back to 2019 . Nothing else !
I also heard a news that TBMs if ITD-ITD Cementation will be launched from Esplanade towards Sealdah ! Why ???? No reason behind that ! The shaft is already ready at Sealdah for TBM Launch . And they will exactly do what they did in case of Howrah . They will first launch the TBMs from Sealdah , and a couple of months before the TBM reaches Esplanade , they will construct the shaft . Meanwhile , TBM Rachna and Prerna will reach Mahakaran . Now Both stations will be connected ! That's it ! East West is Ready !
