Kolkata Metro's Line 4 was initially planned from Noapara to Barasat . Due to extreme Encroachment problems in the route , the line got truncated upto Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport . The Length of the line is 6 km now instead of 16 km (Noapara-Barasat) . Anyways , there is still some hope as Metro Officials said once the 1st 6 km stretch between Noapara and Airport starts , They will realign the route and start construction of the Line . The Line was initially planned to follow the Eastern Railway track upto Barasat . But due to encroachment problem , the line may be realigned to follow the Jessore Road Upto Barasat . Already , the Widening work of Jessore road has started and is nearing completion .
Line 4 , after haulting its construction for 5 years , has now finally accelerated its rate of work . Work is going on very fast , and it seems that Kolkatans might get a Joyride of it by June 2019 .
