Kolkata Metro Line 6

Line 6 of Kolkata Metro starts from Kavi Subhash ( New Garia ) in the South to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in the North . The 32 km Line was approved in the 2011 Rail Budget . Till now , More than 55% Of Elevated Viaduct work is Complete . However , neither of the Stations are nearing completion . Metro Railway Kolkata said that they have plans to open the line's 1st Phase (Kavi Subhash to Ruby Hospital) by June 2018 . However the deadline might not be met as the construction of the Depot at New Garia has just started . Till now , Line 6 has only 2 burden . It requires land at Mahisbathan . But rrecently , West Bengal Government took initiatives to implode 8 five-storied buildings which block the metro path . Click Here to View Article . I personally don't think that full stretch of Line 6 will be inaugurated before 2020 . Lets see...

1. Chingrihata Hurdle Cleared.

2. Mahisbthan Hurdle Cleared.

3. Construction of Depot at New Garia has finally started .

4. 55 percent of Viaduct complete

5. Construction of all stations started except Airport and VIP road .

6. Interchanges to be at Airport( with Line 4 ) , Sector 5( with Line 2) , and Kavi Subhash (with Line 1) .

7. Work might get complete within 2020.

8. ICF has been awarded the contract to supply rakes for the Line .
